Gregor nods at Owains account of how the merchant dies, then picks up the new glass the inkeep prepared. He gingerly sniffs the liquid trying to recognise what it is. Skill check to find out what the liquid is???[/color] Liquid sniffing! (1d20=6, 1d20=18, 1d20=3)

Meldorac does not do much than touch to his lips and sip any of the glasses of spirits offered, realising how much the strangeness is affecting him that his appetite for alcohol has waned.

It smells (and for those of you that drink it, tastes) like Secale, which is a strong drink made from fermented rye.

"Bottoms up then, eh inkeep!"
Gregor puts the glass to his lips and takes a large swig.

Bonnie is not interested in sharing ale in the dead of Night!
She politely declines the offer to go downstairs and tells the two doctors that their findings had best been reported to the watch in Holmgard, rather than to the tavern clientele! She also asks them to dissuade any other patrons in the tavern to visit the corpse.
When the two doctors go downstairs without her, Bonnie places some a small items close to the door and then retires to sleep.
OOC: The small items is a small piece of wood. It is placed in such a way that if anyone opens the door it will snap with a fairly large sound.

Owain reflects that Bonnie has misunderstood his intentions but is also partially correct. By informing the clientele that the merchant died of a heart attack, he is trying to prevent them from assuming it was plague. However, he agrees that the guard should be summoned and says as much to the innkeeper.

Bonnie is not interested in sharing ale in the dead of Night! It calms the nerves, acts a good sleep aid. Can you really blame the poor innkeeper? Woe to any innkeep that has to house a party of adventurers.

Placing his glass on the bar, Gregor stretches and yawns.
"Right then fellows. To bed, I think. We're all had enough excitement for one day!"
With that, Gregor paces back to the stairs and up to his room.

I'm mostly waiting to see if Michael has anything to add to all this.
Scene 2 will come by the end of the night (my night).

At Gregor's comment, the innkeep turns beet red.
"Oh yes, off to bed with you all and leave me to deal with a dead body in one of my rooms!"
The innkeep is raging beyond any ability to calm him down. He blames the companions for the death of the merchant, calling it the bane of traveler's who start a journey on the night of Ishir's Foulness.
"This is what comes of investigating into the dirty matters of death! You've brought the plague into my very inn!" he yells.
Though Owain tries to calm the man by insisting that the merchant died of a heart attack, the innkeep seems beyond reason, ready to toss you all out into the night. At that point the mercenary (who has been listening carefully the entire time) speaks in a calm commanding voice:
"If I'm not mistaken, these men are on a mission from the king himself. Don't you think it would do you well to not hinder that mission? Come, I will go with you to fetch the town watch, and we'll answer their questions. We'll let these people get to sleep and prepare for their journey."
Though no-one can say for sure why the mercenary has spoken up, everyone is too exhausted from the events to question it at that moment, and everyone thankfully retires to their bed, leaving the matter in the hands of the mercenary, who is still trying to calm the innkeep when the last companion leaves the room.
That closes the scene. This scene was mostly meant to get everyone in the flow of the game, to get a sense of how often I'll be posting, and also a sense of the other character's basic personalities.
The first few scenes before Oasis will be kind of trial scenes to get everyone used to the unique gameplay and feel of the game.
I know not much transpired, but let's go ahead and give everyone exp. This scene you get your current Skill score in EXP. Declare any EXP you want to spend. EXP must be spent in the next 24 hours or wait until the end of the next scene (not always a bad idea to save up).
I also get threat, so expect some nastiness next scene.
