Gregor thought carefully about the riddles answers. He thought he had 2 of them, but the last one seemed to be alluding him. Digging into his mental reserves, he tried to prob for a clue on the 3rd answer. The only one he received was pain. Clutching onto the pendant around his neck, Gregor stood. The princess looked expectantly at him. He had to give a answer.
"The first answer...." the mage panted as he spoke, "...is a heart."

Ouch! Talk about bad luck! Sure, let's divert one of those damage by the pendant. That, of course, counts as your pendant useage this scene. As for time to answer, you at least have to keep the princess occupied, so the speed at which you're posting now should be fine. She would expect an answer every post, but as long as you LOOK and SOUND like you're thinking, she's not too likely to go bat-shit crazy!
The princess cutely taps her nose. "I suppose it is, at that," she says. She notices you holding the pendant under your robes and frowns in curiousity. She says nothing though.

thanks, damage taken to combat
Gregor hefts himself up using his spear, then straightens himself and his robes out. Feeling a little better about himself, he rubs his beard theatrically.
"I suppose the next answer.... is a clock. The three "brothers" indicate the 3 hands on the clock; hours, minutes and seconds."

The princess nods. "Right you are. Now how about the third?"

Gregor could feel the anxiety growing inside him. This is silly, he thought, he was - is - a Brother of the Crystal Star, one of the most learned groups on all Magnamund! He should be able to answer some simple riddles!
The princess kept looking at him, her gaze unwavering. Gregor chuckled, involuntarily. She reminded him of the young maidens he sometime saw at court. Standing there politely at first, then as the time went on, you could see there annoyance at having to stand, waiting for the arrival of the King. The King, he would then arrive to much fanfare, preceded by the hail of trumpets and the sound- "...of drums!" He suddenly blurted out. "A drum! The last answer is a drum!"

The princess clapped her hands together and laughed. "Brilliant!" she said. "I've often wondered on a few of those, but yes, there can be no mistake. It is indeed a drum. Now you should have all the pieces. Can you put them together?"

What am I looking for here, is it another thing like an object that all these have in common, or a common theme. Got some ideas it could be sound, or time, or life. So its either an object or an ideal

Well, it's another riddle like the last three, and it's something all three answers have in common. Look at the riddle carefully, and also think what the princess could've meant by "should've rhymed."
For further, and more specific clues, you could roll mental again, same parameters.

Trying for a hint then - 1d20=11, 1d20=8, 1d20=13, 1d20=8. Totally failed that then! This is quite frustrating lol! The only thing i can think of is they all "beat", a heart beats, a drum can produce a beat, and a clock beats on the hour.

Is that your guess, then? You only get one chance at this...

The princess watched Gregor think with a slight smile on her face. "Fear keeps us from the truth," she said. "It's our instincts which we must trust. What good is someone with no faith in themselves?"

Gregor sat - or rather slumped - onto the floor, his head in his hands. Why couldnt he think straight!! The answer was there, he could see it but there was something he was missing. He had to give an answer. He stood and straightened his robe as best he could. Standing tall, he spoke with his eyes closed.
"The answer would appear to be... a beat. A heart beats life, a clock beats when the hour is reached, and a drum can be beaten to produce a sound. It is the only logical answer I could come to."
The mage could not help but let his head droop slightly at his only anwer.

The princess gave him a curious stare, but said nothing. Finally, she shook her head. "I'm sorry," she said. "I never expected... such an answer. I thought you were on a wholly different thought. It's just as well."
She raises her hand and a bright light engulfs you. There's no pain.
Moments later, you realize you can still hear your breathing. You open your eyes and find yourself in a small sitting room with two doors.
"That one," the voice of the princess says, so close you jump. Turning, you see her pointing at one of the doors. "Go through that door and you'll find your friends. And congratulations. You're the first to solve all my riddles." She smiles and winks at you. "Don't forget to trust in yourself. And take this. If ever you need my aid, use it." She hands you a small silver bell. "Trusting in yourself is good, but having friends is good, too. They make the darkness a little less lonely." She looks sad for a moment. Then she is gone.
You feel safe, though your injuries pain you, and you are left with a dizzying sense of not knowing where you are.
Add the bell to your inventory. It takes up one slot. When or if you use it is up to you. Effects may vary depending on when you use it and what you desire it to do. Also, take 2 stress points for the whole ordeal in the darkness. It drains a man.
When you are ready, look to the main thread. In a little bit, a post should indicate you can come in. Congratulations.
