GM OOC: Last night got too late for a post. So I need to run the clock back a couple hours. No penalty to Lorenik for not posting within the 24 hour period.
The server returned, deftly carrying an impossible number of mugs. She stopped at several tables within sight of the companions, before arriving at theirs. After accepting coin from each of the companions, a mug of foaming drink was placed before each.
The serving woman seemed about to depart for the next table, but paused when Altor spoke to her.
“I will bring you some stew. But sir, you would be best to find someone to share a room. There is none left. Neither here nor elsewhere, I imagine. Start with your drinking companions here.”
Again about to leave, the tavern woman again hesitated. Finally, she carefully addressed Eruhs. “Sir, there have been complaints about your attire. There is too much of a crowd for its bulk, and you were bumping patrons and stands alike when you worked your way through the crowd. The damage caused was minor, but complaints were still made.”
She nodded carefully towards a couple watchmen a few yards away through the crowd. The men’s gazes were deeply suspicious.
“And it marks you trouble.”
Believing a sufficient set of advisory hints had been said, the tavern woman continued on. Now that she had brought the matter to the attention of the companions, they all realized Eruhs was literally the only man in the common room wearing armour. None save the watchmen interspersed in the common room wore weapon larger than a dagger.
The pair of watchmen continued to stare at Eruhs but did not yet approach.

After taking the invite to sit, Lorenic pulled out his own pipe and stuffed it three quarters full of pipe-weed. Receiving a light, he puffed a few good draws, exhaled, and quietly listened to the stories of the others at the table.
When his turn came around, "I am Lorenic, an ex mercenary from Lyris. I now do trade in spices in order to build up a revenue to start my own company. Alas, I am new to the trade and wish to learn much while I stay here in Talon for the Winters festival." He paused for a moment to take a decent draw, exhaled, and sat content for a moment. "I have been traveling for some time to get here and just am happy to have established a spot in the new 'streets'."
When the barmaid came around, Lorenic ordered some light ale and 3 loafs of fresh bread. "I believe that is enough of me for now. Please partake if you wish," as he gestures to the loafs when they arrive.

As Eruhs was inscribing the information being shared between the group at his table, the server approached and hinted that it would be in his best interest to leave his armor and maul back in his room. Eruhs met eyes with the server with an agitated gaze, tensing up slightly before relaxing into a more composed posture.
For a moment, the terrible and frightening nature of Eruhs’ ego had risen to the surface, but was quickly quelled as he coolly cleared his head. For that fleeting instant, it had seemed as though he was a much different person. In his mind, he reverted back to the spoiled, noble brat of the Leitus family, reacting with chilling disapproval and hostility that had been refined through years as an interrogator and front-line warrior. He wasn't happy to be pulled away from his writing, or to be taken away from conversation. He was very used to getting his way, even when he had to force it. But, almost instantly, the high-spirited and friendly personality came back to him, as he realized that his initial reaction was uncalled for, and quite rude at that.
Eruhs gave a juvenile grin as he spoke to the woman. “Ah. I see what you mean there. No sense in causing any trouble. My sincere apologies.” He chuckled as he gestured his hand in an affirming manner that harbored no hostility. “I’m only here to meet friends and have a spot of fun.” Eruhs stood from his seat to face the center of the common room, and raised his hands to meet the sides of his mouth. “Oi! Sorry, everyone!” Eruhs shouted with a jolly echo, just loud enough to disturb or derail nearby conversations, though not intentionally.
Eruhs turned back to his acquaintances at the table with all the cheer of a lighthearted child. “I’ll be back shortly. The denizens seem a little perturbed.” Eruhs gave an amused laugh as he lifted up his glass and put away his ale in a few seconds, wiping his lips of the heady foam and moisture.
Eruhs walked off, making sure to vocalize his presence to nearby folks. “Moving through here! Pardon me, madam! Oi, old man, watch out! Excuse me!” Even though he could no longer be seen in the thick crowd, his rowdy and bass-heavy voice carried out as he head to his room, gesturing and gently moving people from his path, behaving in a much more than overly-cautious fashion.
Once arriving at his room, he began to take off the armor, opting to wear a minimalist selection of clothing; deep-crimson breeches, buckled shoes and a black bandana. He decided against wearing anything on his torso, because with all the people in the common room, Eruhs noticed that it was quite warm, not to mention the consumption of ale is likely to warm him as well. Eruhs changed as quickly as he could so that he could rejoin his table, eager to continue in conversation.

Share a room. Humans or horses. Horses would not be able to tell him anything, but humans smelt worse... Oh well, humans it is, then.
After the server left, Altor turned to his new companions and asked in Vassa"dae any o' you have a spare bit o' floor in yer room?"
Listening to the conversation between the armoured man and the server, he was a bit surprised. Back in Boradon armour was not unusual in the feast halls - just a bit uncomfortable. Perhaps these humans were a bit more quick to anger than his fellow dwarfs... or, he thought looking around, perhaps this strange mix of humans can bring trouble.
"Thank ye, Lorenic is it?" says Altor, ripping some bread. It was surprisingly good for human food. "Ye trade in spices to save up fer a mercenary company? I always bring some spices wi' me when I go out on the land. Always nicer tae have some flavour wi' me rabbit," says Altor, intentionally making conversation that gives very little away about himself, while keeping the humans engaged.

Castiel nodded to Altor, "I think there is some spare floor in my room and as always, Aetos would also like conversation with new people. He is always fascinated by a good ware tale, and few of you look like you could provide one." looking to the table he gestured to the stairs "For those of you who dont have a room you can follow me, lets see how gracious Aetos will be be with our space tonight. We were able to get one of the largest rooms in the house, although it was a fools thought to believe we would not have to be shearing it. We might not be able to fit all of you though, but Aetos might be able to help point you in the direction of a room with some space. He has been making friends around the tavern also. Bring your food and drink if you like."
With that, Castiel took his drink and proceeded shepherding his friends who followed through the crowd. As he weaved around the crowd, it looked like he thought two steps ahead. Every few steps Castiel examined the crowed, then proceeded on to points where the crowed parted.

Enjoying some of the bread himself, Lorenik watched as the scholar seemingly on purpose make quite the scene. He could understand why others would not want someone fully garbed in war gear in the commons. What he could not understand is, why make the scene at all...
After that, the dwarf happened to bring up one of Lorenik's favorite subjects. Cooking! "Yes my dwarfish friend!" Lorenic exclaimed with enthusiasm! "I joined the spice trade to eventually make the money for a fit, proud, strong mercenary company! But my first love was cooking. And in this world what can make a man feel more alive than a woman's touch? Exquisite food! Once durring a summer campaign, my regiment of 30 men were without food supplies for 2 days. One of the scouts found only 2 carcasses of vultures and a rabbit. With a little spices that I always kept on me person, and a little ingenuity, I turned those drab findings into a meal for all of the men!" Lorenic paused for a moment to sip some ale. "Nothing makes you appreciate food and good food at that than starving for a little while. That is why I chose to trade in spices."
After his story, Lorenic sat back and watched conversation at his table. Puffing his pipe all the while, the Vassa looked as he was about to retire. "Thank you for your generous offer Vassa, but I have my own lodgings here for the night."
Watching the others take to the stairs, and relieved to have a pleasant social experience. Lorenic sat at the booth and puffed his pipe while watching the crowd.

Jynx raised a bemused eyebrow as she watched the bulky man clad in heavy armor first get out of his seat, and then bellowed out to the crowd around him before heading towards the staircase leading up to the inn’s rooms. She also noted that some of the remaining men seated at the same table were taking their leave. “Well,” said Jynx as she played with the twin bracelets on her wrist. She turned slightly to give her druidess companion a sweet little grin while still keeping the table within her peripheral vision. “That was quite a fascinating assembly of people you found Ilia.” Jynx made a thoughtful sort of look before saying, “I think I’ll go and talk to the innkeeper. Would you like for me to order you something to eat?”
Hearing her friend’s response, Jynx just gave the same sweet smile before she turned to go find the innkeeper.

Ilia saw a look that she knew very well, and mirrored her raised eyebrow, but instead directed it at Lady Jynx’s. They already had appropriate lodging, and didn’t think that the Lady had any need to talk to him about that. Allowing a smile to flit around the corners of her mouth, she looked out towards the table that was no longer completely full of interesting individuals. She put her own thoughts aside for the moment, to comment to her friend, “You could just follow them, you know….” She knew that it would do no good, as such antics were not the style of the Lady, but it amused her to point these things out. She nodded at the question of food, and turned to another customer admiring her powdered Laumspur packets. When she looked back to where the Lady had been, she was no longer there.

"Well met, Lorenic," said Rolph. "My name is Rolph. I've been in business for several years now, and I can give you a few pointers later, if you'd like." He shakes his head slightly at the antics of Eruhs. While the man seems an insensitive lout, Rolph gets the feeling that there is more to him than meets the eye. Surely he is not as oafish as he appears.
Rolph rises when Castiel makes his offer. "I have my own room already," he says, "though I may be able to squeeze someone else in who doesn't have one. All the same, I would like to meet Aetos. I have seen my share of action at sea, and have many a tale to tell. I shall come too. My men can mind the stall while I am away." He follows in Castiel's wake through the common room.

GM OOC: One post per day, folks. Days are defined as being between one of my posts and the next. If you want to add to your post, that's fine. But don't post a second time.

The rest departed, leaving Lorenik alone at the table. Eruhs, returning to the table, found the other Stornlander smoking quietly.
GM OOC: For the sake of this post, I’ve assumed Altor went with. There would be no point in leaving the table otherwise.
Lorenik, I am going to keep spelling your name this way until you correct your Profile name like you promised. :-)
***
Reaching Castiel’s room, they found the room deserted. Where ever Castiel’s friend was present at, it was not here.
***
Continuing her business, Ilia watched as the most apparently boisterous of the strangers return to the table to rejoin the one who had remained.
***
Jynx discovered, to no surprise, that the innkeeper was in constant motion, florid and sweating with the exertion of dealing with a hundred matters scattered throughout his establishment. Nevertheless, the man seemed in good humour, and paused when she approached.
“Yes?”

After a brief period of Lorenic watching the crowd, Eruhs appeared before the now deserted table. "Welcome back my boisterous friend. The rest seem to have departed to the Vassa's chambers to see his friend."
Happy to not hear clinking as the strange scholar shuffled around before him. Lorenic Noticed that a woman in the corner happened to have pouches all around her. A few vials were here and there, but he was intrigued if any were spices. He decided to think about it for a small while, still enjoying his pipe and ale.

Eruhs, upon returning in his lighter attire, looked around the room when realizing that most of the folks at his table had left. Especially curious about the whereabouts of the Dwarf, Eruhs ducked down and checked under the table. “Oi, Altor.” Peering around quizzically, he concluded that his little friend must have retired for the evening. With a disappointed sigh, Eruhs took a seat across from Lorenic.
“I overheard your story before I left. So, you want to start a mercenary company?” Eruhs said without the normal bounce in his voice. He nodded and began speaking once more, this time in Western Vaderish. “I was in a mercenary band for a number of years. You’re from Lyris, eh?” Eruhs grabbed one of the left behind tankards of ale, and took a hefty gulp. “I’m from Slovia.” Eruhs gave Lorenic an unusually merry smile, despite the news that the two were from warring countries. “Oi, I’m not one for political grudges, especially not when there are much more pressing matters at hand.” Eruhs said reassuringly before taking another drink. “It may surprise you to learn, but I was once a frontline fighter of some renown.” Eruhs spoke with a much more solemn tone. “I’m done fighting in battles. I want to help out in a different manner.” Eruhs sounded much more serious than before. “Before we can stand against a greater evil, we must first stand together, forgetting these simple quarrels and debates when comparing our differences.” Eruhs spoke with conviction. “I’m going to do what I can, writing a compilation of beliefs, dreams and ideals of the good and kind people from all over Magnamund. Once people see that we can all be united by both our differences and our similarities, maybe the bickering can be set aside, even if only for a brief period of peace.”
Eruhs finished off the rest of the ale in the mug. “I’m going to find companions with whom I can travel with and spread hope. Traveling on my own has been lonely, to say the least. Dull is quite an understatement.” Eruhs seemed to ponder for a minute before he turned to Lorenic with a bright laugh. “What would you say to a proposal of sorts? If two soldiers from opposing countries are able to get past their prejudice to work toward their goals, maybe that alone is an act in and of itself that would inspire change throughout the land.” Eruhs leaned forward in his seat and extended his hand toward Lorenic in a hopeful act of friendship. “Oi, Lorenic. What do you say? I’ll assist you with your dreams in any way I can, and you can keep me company on our travels. An experienced soldier is always a useful ally, especially one who knows how to cook a decent meal, and I’m sure I’ll be of use to you.” A cheerful smile that spoke of his honest intent and trusting disposition adorned his face, as his welcoming demeanor and outstretched hand awaited Lorenic’s choice.

Placing his bad down, Altor looks to Castiel. "Methinks yer freind is probably downstairs, enjoying the brew...
"Probably a good idea. My clothes are still wet, and the warm fire there will dry 'em off quickly. Shall we return tae the table and join the others?"
Altor was very intrigued by the others, it seemed a very odd group, and perhaps part of the reason that he was guided to this city. It was hard to say, no one every really knew what the Ancestors had planned, as they revealed everything so slowly.

Castiel nodded to Altor, "I think you are right, place your bags where you can find room. Lets head back to the table and hope there is still some room. I can introduce you guys to Aetos later". He headed back to the table to rejoin up with the rest of the group, on his way there he scanned the crowds for Aetos.
