A little taken aback by the extreme seriousness of the situation Lorenic and his new found companions are in, "Aye, Ill go with ya to be witness."
His greatest wish was to not cause alarm or trouble on his first merchant outing. Lorenic put out his pipe and put away with his pipeweed bag. Getting up, he prepared to follow the man.

Ilia did not react to the man’s words visibly, only nodding and looking around for the Lady Jynx. After spotting her heading toward them through the stationary crowd, she turned back to the man. When she spoke, she did not raise to her voice, nor did she add any particular inflection to reveal her emotions. “I request it be permitted to allow my traveling companion, Lady Jynx, to accompany me.” She gestured to the woman now beside her.

Hearing what was said, Jynx quietly told Jayda to wait for them in their room before moving to Ilia's side. As she passed the men at arms, the courtesan slightly bowed her head courteously all while showing herself to be physically harmless. She looked the leader in the eyes briefly so that he could see displayed on her face the slight look of confusion in response to the situation she found herself in. "We are ready, sir. Please lead on." She said in her alto voice in a way that was formal and respectful.

The man stared flatly at Altor, then responded curtly, and as if he did not hear the others who sat at the table and spoke to either the dwarf or himself.
“You have no need for your things. You will not yet be leaving this inn.
"Stand and follow.” The order was clearly addressed to all those at the table, irrespective of whether or not they were already on their feet.
Turning, the man again addressed Ilia. His tone lost none of its flat, expressionless tone. Yet it lacked at least a measure of the bite directed at the strangers at the table. “Lady Jynx may accompany us.”
His gaze swept over Jynx as he spoke to Ilia. The scrutiny was disinterested…but nevertheless thorough. When she briefly met his gaze, Jynx firmly repressed the resulting shudder. Though she had not expected such a person in a nation like Talon, the demeanor was completely unmistakable to her. This was a man for whom law and authority were tools to be applied without mercy or compassion. The best, and at the same time the very worst, of his type. This was not someone Jynx wished to hunt her, now or in the future.
The man stepped away from the table. There was a bit of scuffling from the surrounding people, and a ragged corridor opened in the crowd. The corridor revealed one of the stairwells leading to the upper floors of the building. Without another word, the strange man strode away.
The guardsman, on the other hand, waited until all the companions had stood and started to follow.

Altor looked at the man, "fine, aye, follow ye, nay bother" he said, attempting to act disinterested, but wondering what he did to get into this situation. Was it because he was a Dwarf? He was unaware of any hostilities towards his kind here in Talon, but this was a strange time indeed.

Taking a moment to look in depth at the two women who would be joining them, Lorenic found it obvious where the owl came from. But the woman did not look offended. In fact, she looked rather stoic for a situation that was supposed to be an affront to her.
The other appeared rather Lady like. So much so that Lorenic wondered if she was someones rich merchant wife, or even lower royalty. But she was addressed by the owl lady for company.
Curious, and cautious, Lorenic waited for the man to lead on.

When they were ready to follow the leader of the men of arms, whom she kept a discreet but sharp eye on, Jynx followed dutifully and in calm silence next to her friend Ilia. As they walked with the men from the table, Jynx quickly tried to read their outward appearance. She wanted to gain some knowledge as who they are and what they do before having to deal with them in front of Talon agents.

Rolph followed the stranger without a word. He wondered why the man seemed so angry at him, considering that he hadn't done anything and had even tried to dissuade the Dwarf from bothering the owl. Then it occurred to him that perhaps the man had a dislike for all foreigners, either because of what one of them had done or because he simply felt that way anyhow. He had encountered people like that in his travels, and he knew there was nothing to be done besides stay on his good side as much as possible.

Ilia followed directly behind the man as he strode up the stairs. She knew Sage would follow them, and so only had to reassure Peep as Rhia fluffed her feathers and muttered as Ilia walked.

Most of the watchmen converged in a loose grouping around the companions as the stranger lead them up the stairs. Ilia watched one of the watchman walk over to stand next to her market stall, before the large hall was lost to her sight.
The man lead them up three flights of stairs before turning down a hall branching from the landing. The hall was a tight fit for the entire group, though the watchmen appeared to keep a careful eye for trouble.
Jynx took the opportunity to study the strangers who had been setting at the table. As yet, she had little to go on, studying them. None of them had an obvious country of origin from their dress alone. She had yet to listen to any of the mens’ speech, aside from a brief response to the watchman leader by the dwarf. One of the humans was obviously a dark-skinned Vassa, though whether or not he was from Vassagonia was not yet apparent. The other two were even less obvious, effectively of indistinguishably mixed, though pale, ethnicity. Both of the pale-skinned men walked with the sure and balanced gait of trained warriors, though both were presently dressed as tradesmen. The Vassa too, was in tradesman dress. None of the three displayed any evidence of poverty, neither did they appear visibly wealthy.
Jynx’s study of the strangers was cut short by the group again clustering. Ahead, there was a rattle of a key as the lead watchman unlocked a door at the end of the hall.
The entire group crowd through the door and found themselves in a very large room. Ordinarily, this was likely the best room in the inn and occupied the space of at least six of the regular-sized rooms in the inn. However, the space seemed the only comfort to be had here. It was very cold, and no fire burned in the hearth filling one side of the large room. No bed was present, though it was obvious from the presence of a low table and a chamber pot near the hearth where the bed had been. Several candles in black-iron sconces on the walls together shed a dim, cold light in the room. The light was barely enough to make out everyone, and certainly not enough to either read or do any detail work with.
There were visible, however, a dozen wooden armchairs cluttering the center of the room. These were haphazardly placed.
The strange man strode into the room and took one chair. He dragged it a short distance and placed it up against the long wall opposite. Two, heavy glass, rain-streaked windows looked out into the darkness on either side of him. There were no curtains, and the chill outside flowed off the windows like an invisible fog.
Seating himself, the man stared at the companions for a few, long moments. The man’s gaze seemed to reflect, redly, the dim light of the candles as he stared unblinking at each of the companions. Even Ilia, Jynx and the watchmen behind them all did not escape the man’s chill, silent scrutiny.
The companions suddenly realized the watchmen had remained in and immediately around the doorframe. There were several, slight jingles of chainmail behind the companions, as a couple of the watchmen shivered. Whether it was from the cold of the room or the man’s stare was impossible to guess. Finally, however, the man spoke. The voice had lost none of its command.
“Be seated. All of you.”
He flicked his gaze up past the companions, obvious addressing the watchmen. “Return to your duties.”
The door closed behind the companions. They heard the dull thud of the lock. Apparently, the lead watchman had handed one of his men the key, to look him in with the companions.
Once the door was shut, the man spoke again.
“I am Fers. That name should mean nothing to any of you. The authority invested in my by Magnalord Fennic of Bautar, however, does. It is that authority that finds each of you here now. None of you, aside from Ilia Underwing, call Bautar home. Before we begin with the matter at hand, state your names and your homelands.”

Rolph sat as he was bid in one of the empty chairs and faced Fers. "I am Rolph, of Lencia," he said, answering the man's question. He did not add anything extraneous to it, figuring that the best thing to do was to tell him exactly what he wanted to hear. When he wished to know more, he would ask for it.

Altor looked around the room, and at the man, whose name appeared to be Fers. He attempts to gain a sense of his motives, why the man brought him here, what had Altor done? He also glances around attempting to notice anything out of place, anything that would give him some indication as to what is going on here, drawing on his inner strength as he does so.
"I be Altor Cloudscraper, o' the Cloudscraper clan fae Boradon" he says while taking his seat.
"Ye claim I have done something tae offend yer lord's hospitality. Ye have yet tae tell me what it is ye think I have done." Attempting to gain some diplomatic tread with Fers, he continues "I really am no sure about what I have may have done tae offend yer hospitality, I can assure ye, if I have done anything it was due tae me ignorance of yer customs, it was definitely no my intention."

Taking a seat opposite of Fers, Lorenic listened to what he said. Stoic in facial appearance, he was unsure of how much he knew about Bauter.
When it came to his turn to speak, "I am Lorenic of Lyris."
Feeling that this man was more than serious, Lorenic felt being responsive, rather than overly forthcoming, would be the wisest choice.

Before taking a seat where she could see everyone in the room as well as leaving enough room for Ilia next to her, Jynx introduced herself to everyone in the room. "I'm Jynx of Casiorn." she said demurely, "I wish that we would have met under different circumstances."

Ilia cast a skeptical glance at each person as she walked past them to sit in the chair farthest from the door. She listened to each of them in turn, and then looked up at the authority that called himself Fers. She raised an eyebrow the slightest degree, and introduced herself. "As you all might know by now, I am Ilia Underwing, Herbalish of Bautar." She gestured appropriately, and continued, "And this is Rhia, Peep, and Sage."
