Lukav begins talking to Madinson in Cloeasian, while Randal looks on, not knowing what is being said. Once Lukav finishes his lengthy speech, Madinson looks at Randal and smiles politely.
"My good fellow," he says in a a slow drawl. "Your companion here indicates your interest in several of my items. I might be able to sell those three to you for, say, 10 Crowns?"

"A most reasonable offer," says Randal, paying for the items before leaving the store and heading back to meet his waiting companions.

Madinson takes the Crowns from you and hands over the items, before you leave the store.
Back at the gates, you find your companions waiting.

"Right, I have a few supplies now - but saw no sign of the priest," says Randal. "Time to go?"

"Welcome back lads. No, no sign of him yet. So what then, do we continue on?"

"If the man is indeed Sommlending, I apologise for his cowardice. If he is false, he will pay for his lies by my hand or by Kai's. In either regard, we have a mission and our time appears precious. I advocate moving swiftly to V'Ka. I will, of course, scout for danger. Mage of Dessi, if you possess powers to aid in detection for our journey, emplying them now may prevent disasters if our mission is known."
Sir Callum looks to the dwarf, idly wondering if the warrior would be able to accompany him on horseback. Sir Callum then dismisses it as unworthy - the group needs a strong and capable fighter to protect them while Sir Callum scouts.

'Sounds fair enough; we'll deal with the priest when we come to it.'
Coll stands and collects himself, preparing to move.
'Once we leave the known roads, I'll be happy to take point.'

You leave Kadan by the west gate and head out towards V'Ka.
It is late afternoon and the sun is beginning to se as you reach a junction in the main highway. The road continues west towards the town of Temel, which lies due north of V'ka. The other road heads south towards the town of Lujar. As you apporach the junction you can see a group of people pushing hand cart approaching you along the highway from the west. They seem to be a family, with one male and one female adult, and several children.

Drik nudges Callum as best he can.
"Go on lad, you know these parts better than I, you being the emisary 'n' all. Best we find out what we can about whats up ahead."

Sir Callum dismounts and takes off his helmet, walking slowly towards the people.
"Hail this day!" greets the knight, "How fares the roads you leave behind?"

The travellers stop several yards short of your position, eyeing you suspiciously. The adult male - obviously the father - steps forward and hails you.
"Hail, travellers!" His voice is friendly but his eyes are still looking at you all warily. "If you be honest men I would turn back the way you came. Nothing along this road but trouble."
"We are fleeing our home in Temel with what scant possessions we have. Is there any trouble in Kadan, prey tell? Have the winged, golden skinned things attacked there yet?"

"That is troubling news friend, for we travel seeking to confirm rumours and combat the evil if it is true." Sir Callum gives a slight bow to the man. "My name is Sir Callum Darmoon, Knight of the Realm of Sommerlund. Kadan is indeed safe for you and your family for now. If you can tell us more of these winged horrors, my companions and I swear we shall keep it safe."

Despite previously paying the refugees little heed, Randal's ears prick up at the words "winged, golden-skinned things". Could these be related to the Dragonlords?

The father starts talking in a lower voice, as if afraid to be overheard. "They are a bit taller than you or I, Sir, with golden, scaly skin and wings. They have vicious claws and beaks. They have been coming into Temel of a night and abducting people from their beds. If the townspeople tried to fight back, they were killed. I have no shame in admiting that fear drove us to flee."

Sir Callum broods for a moment. "My condolences for your town's losses," he says, "did any of your attacks harm the creatures?"
