Both Running Bear and Sun Snake make it down from the tower safely, reporting what they have seen to everyone else.

Raging Stallions face tightens as his brothers relay what they have seen.
"It is set then, we must head to Homlgard at once!"

Ok, so you can go east, south east or south.

"We did not see troops on the King's Highway, but it is sure to be well-patrolled. There is battle to the south and Kraan observe the southeasterly approach," says Running Bear. "Every route has its dangers but the highway will be fastest."

"Since danger lurks eveywhere, lets us head the most direct route."

Sun Snake nods his assent, still visible shaken by the sight of Toran ablaze. Would Holmgard be similarly affected? Are they heading to their postponed doom to join with their fellow Kai?

That the Monastery should have been destroyed and nearly all his Kai brothers with it is appalling enough, but that the great city of Toran should have fallen shows the nature of the Darkland assault to be far greater than Swift Otter had thought and makes the hope of Sommerlund's survival seem terribly slim. Is it possible that the fabled mages of the Crystal Star have been massacred like the Kai?
The urge to escape from such a dismal situation, to simply run into the forest and live in the welcome wilderness, far from any place in which the Darkland armies might have interest, runs through Swift Otter and makes his heart jump. He forces the yearning down, however, and feels the heavy press of duty upon his shoulders.
"To the highway then," he says dully, "and let us hope that it has not attracted enemy as it attracts us."

You have covered about a quarter of a mile when you hear shouting and a noise like thunderclaps ahead.

Running Bear readies his mace and shield, and advances towards the disturbance, probing ahead with his Sixth Sense.

Sun Snake draws his shield and sword, and falls in behind the powerful Kai.

Raging Stallion takes a firm grip on his warhammer and shield, and takes point with Running Bear, scanning forward with his Sixth Sense.

Swift Otter moves off to the left so as to approach the disturbance from a slightly different direction. He readies his axe and peers through the forest with both eyes and mind.
Activate Sixth Sense if it needs activating - can't remember.

Yeah it does need activating, normally with a Test.
Your sixth sense alerts you to the presence of a battle up ahead. You can sense evil as well as danger.

"Someone is being attacked! We must lend what aid we can!" hisses Running Bear, before rushing forward, ignoring the danger to himself.

Sun Snake slides forward too, fear of the combat and rushing in forgotten in defending his fellow Kai.
