Now, having posted what I did tonight, Altor doesn't have to worry toooooo much about dying so early in the game.
Note, I dd not say Altor doesn't have anything to worry about.
But, as all of you are veterans of one of my games, either online, tabletop or both, each of you knows I will eventually take the kid gloves off.... ;-)

I understand what you are saying, but Altor (and I) are having a hard time getting our minds around what is going on - to Altor it is all very surreal.

It would not be the present situation if it didn't throw you and a few of your fellows rather off balance. Means there's probably matters important to the future of this story in the present situation. :-)

Means there's probably matters important to the future of this story in the present situation. :-) Yeah, I have picked up on a few things, but I am not sure it is stuff Altor would pick up on though (given that some of it comes from people's thoughts and events he was not present at!)

Keep being mindful. Altor is, as you pointed out earlier, a player as well as a character. The OOC Discussion thread here may exist for the player to speak to another player in the future.

Roger that. On that, what are the conventions here for conviction and "the talent"? I noticed that none of the magic users seemed to use that in your last game - I would have thought spending a few conviction points to utalize fire attacks against the tree creature would have made sense. I am asking as things are looking not too good for Altor, and I would be willing to use conviction points to utalize powers that I do not posses to escape the situation. I wanted to ask now as I wanted to clear up any assumptions I may have had in my mind.

Maerin grins.
Right now the convention is, you cannot use Conviction to activate a Power you do not have because neither the use of Powers nor the use of Conviction is, at the moment, available to you as an option. That is intentional. My previous comments about game mechanics not being necessary here still applies. I'm doing you a favor in that, believe it or not. Never hurts to keep all such..."distractions"...from getting involved in what is a roleplaying opportunity. :-)
The Adept ability is not quite as ubiquitous as it implies. Large numbers of Powers are not available to certain types of spellcasters for a variety of reasons. In the case of the Swamplord battle, literally none of the player characters actually had that ability. Karstan and Jynx both chose Expert as their level 1 class, and Ilia has a different Adept class ability.
Generally speaking, if you want to use that class ability on a type magic outside of the concept of your character, you will probably want to propose your use and get the guidance on how to use it for the specific application. It's not a Doctor Who screwdriver ability, so there are going to be Powers not available to you (just as there are Feats not available to someone spending Conviction in general). No, before you ask, I'm not going to spend a year writing a rulebook over which Powers Altor can and cannot have access to (you can't "cheat" Evil by using Right-handed Sorcery). :-) If it hasn't been taken as a level's ability by Altor, it's not guarenteed to be available.

Hrmmmmm, Dr who screw driver? I wonder if i should have picked that for my magical object... It's funny, but I did precisely that in a Call of Cthulhu play-by-post called The Last Express. Each player chose a special ability, benefit, or gadget for his or her character. My NKVD agent never got a chance to use it before the game fell apart, but I'm sure she would have found it quite useful for opening locks. I'm also running a Doctor Who/Call of Cthulhu play-by-post, and the Time Lord's player does have a sonic screwdriver, but it's the type from the classic series that is more limited in its abilities, not the one from the new series that seems able to do pretty much anything. The first adventure is nearing the conclusion, and he hasn't found a use for it yet. It doesn't work on mechanical locks, and there aren't a whole lot of electronic locks in 1930...

Guess you two best be getting the gerbils on the wheels running faster... No way, that could be interpreted as being unkind to a guest and result in my trial...
