You aren't able to get the compass working right, but an idea occurs to you... you remember seeing a sailor's compass once, and he explained that it was attuned to magnetic poles. He also explained that if you got close enough to a magnetic source, the dial would spin.
Maybe there's something in the house itself that's causing this disruption. You'll have to explore the house more fully, or maybe ask the servant if she knows of anything strange.

When we're done with the dogs I will do a search of the house trying to locate what Im looking for. As yet, Gregor doesnt know about the secret room the others found, but OOC Im guessing somethings in there for me to look at.

Actually, the compass has stopped vibrating. It stopped around the time the others went to the stables. You just now notice.

Thought Id ask you here rather that in the thread. Do the +2 free points have a usage limit then, as in can I only apply them once per scene or once per opponent? Or is it open to use as I see fit. And no I havnt used my item Not gonna waste it on the dog

The spear's points can be used every time you attack with it, though they can't be saved and "stored" for later use. They have to be used at the time of the attack or they are lost.

Using pendant to take a voluntary stress to cast Deflecting Hand.
Just clarify a ruling for me, when Im casting a defensive spell against an attacking enemy, how does it work? IE when can I cast it, how do I roll etc...

Yeah, sorry, I wasn't very clear on the whole thing.
So, normally when you cast a defensive spell, you're doing that instead of taking a combative action. This is fine, as long as no one is targetting you. In a group, you usually don't have a problem casting spells, either because the enemies are targetting other players or are being targetted (and thus distracted) themselves by other players.
So a mage alone is in a weak position for a fight (excepting the use of spells like lightning hand). Mages are far more effective in groups. Which is actually remarkably how mage classes USUALLY play out, isn't it?
However, a mage can ALWAYS cast a spell AND take combat action if they take three stress points (simulating the amount of intense focus they would need).
So in this case, you could use your pendant to negate one of the points, and take two, if you want to cast the spell.

Cool. Mark em on your sig.
It's good to be cautious, when you're a mage protecting a young girl.

Shes a little too young though Anyway, with girl in tow, Gregor will search the rest of the house looking for his special item that the compass was suggesting towards. That will include going into the secret room and having a nose at what is there.

How old is your character, again?

Haha maybe Im thinking Im older than my character actually is then!
Any luck with finding this item using the compass? Looking all around the house and the secret room, will take any books/potions that look interesting.
