For your easy reference, here's what you can spend EXP on between scenes:
1. Heal damage By spending 4 points, you can heal one of your stats by one point, up to your maximum value in that stat
2. Raise base stats You can spend 12 points to raise a stat's maximum value by 1, to a maximum of 8. This heals you by one point.
3. Get abilities By spending 10 points you can get a new ability. Tell me in your personal board what you'd like your ability to do, and we'll work out the details. You can also request to upgrade a current ability, by increasing its effect or decreasing its cost. Your maximum number of abilities is equal to your skill maximum.
4. Lower trauma You can remove a single insanity point by spending 2 EXP. This cannot lower your current insanity level (for instance, from The Brink to The Calm).
5. Lower Insanity Level You can lower your current insanity level by spending 6 EXP.
EXP is awarded at the end of each scene at the current score of the stat used most often that scene (by the whole party). Added to this is some extra EXP depending on how difficult or long the scene was.
You can also receive bonus EXP for doing daring or clever things (or even witty things).

Note: raising your stats now heals you. It wasn't really fair, the other way.
