You wait cautiously outside the stables for a couple minutes. After assuring yourself that only horse noises are coming from within, you enter to find...
... a horse. As expected. the stables are very dark, you can't make out anything else here. There's no movement or anything else overtly suspicious, though.
Do you wish to move on to the house now?

Hmmm .... only one horse. I guess the darkness is to be expected at midnight.
Seems little point in lingering in stables and stumbling around in the dark.
Advance towards the main entrance but not going all the way there yet.
Trying to find tracks on the road. Different kinds? Have there been much activity lately?
Also observing the house from a distance: What windows and how many windows are lit? (First story, Second storey, Left and/or right of the main entrance?)
Are there any windows that are not lit? Any visible side entrances or alternative means of entry?

Tracks will require skill roll (+2, I believe, if you took that new ability).
As for lit windows, there are windows on all sides of the house, with curtains drawn, and all of them are lit. The front has the least windows, with only windows on the top of the house. The hill falls away to the right, anyways, so that would be where the best view would be, not at the front.
There are two entrances to the house, the main entrance and a door in the back.

Sorry, I meant it's a better view for the occupants of the house... it's not blocked by a rising hill, but rather a view of the entire countryside drifting off into the horizon... well, on better lit days, at least.
In the mud and grass in front of the house, you find many prints, and the ground is heavily disturbed, as if a pack of animals came this way not so long ago.
You see a shape go past one of the many downstairs windows on the right side of the house. The curtains are drawn, so you cannot see who it is.

On closer examination, you determine that the tracks probably belong to a four legged animal with paws (not hooves). You do see hoof marks, but they lead towards the stables, and so you assume they belong to the horse inside. The paw marks most likely, because of their spacing and number, belong to a canine creature, as you can't think of any other large four legged animal which travels in packs. You count at least three sets of tracks, too.
If it is dogs, they are rather large. Maybe wolves.
You also see the distinct print of a large man-sized boot. They lead away from the house and down the hills towards the south, towards Oasis, though it is impossible to know if the owner was actually headed towards the merchant city, or just headed into the many valleys of this area.
Before you can determine anything else, you hear a knocking sound, and see Gregor knocking on the front door and calling out.

I guess little point in continue scouting now.
Draw my Bow and remain motionless and hidden.

I suppose we can resume posting in the main thread, then. If an attack comes, you would probably have several rounds of free long range attacks before you were discovered.
