What items do you want with item set 2?
As for abilities, I'll have to think on the precise wording for a bit. You only get two abilities to start with.
Right now, my inclination is to make the first ability something along the lines of allowing more dice when you roll to identify any potions or poisons, probably +4 dice. I would probably also extend this to include some kind of threat assessment, allowing you to get hints on some ways to proceed against tough enemies.
The second ability would be easy, basically adding dice and/ord when you were mounted. Probably I'd give you "free points" when mounted, which could be distributed amongst Combat, Toughness, and damage modifiers.

Okay, yeah, just the first two abilities. Woops. As for the item set, I'd like a Khopesh (Egyptian scimitar), bow, light armor, pouch (pack) and one laumspaur in it.

Okay, here's what I'm seeing:
Proficiency: Khopesh, sword, bow, light armour
Threat Assessment: can sometimes get hints on how best to proceed. When making rolls involving assessing an enemy or dangerous situation, add +4 dice. When making a roll to identify poison or potions, add +2 dice.
Mounted Training: When riding a mount into combat, you get +2 to combat rolls, and +1 to either toughness or damage (you have to declare which you are taking when you post your attack)
As for items: Khopesh +1 die in combat, +1 damage Bow (can be used to shoot long range using skill) light leather armour first damage point in a scene is negated Backpack (carries 8 items) Concentrated Vassagonian Laumspur heals 4 damage outside of combat, or prevents up to 6 damage if taken when damage is recieved
Okay, add that to the first post on this page, organize it however makes sense to you, and then you're pretty much good to go. You still need a goal, but it will take me a couple days probably to finalize that. Gotta fit it in with all the others in an interesting way, you know.
In any case, you'll definitely be ready to join the party next scene.

Sweet, thanks! I really dig the abilities. Maybe his secret goal could be a desire to rule his own khanate?

Fine desire. Not really achievable within the scope of the game, I'm afraid.

Goal coming later today. Believe it or not, it actually DOES involve you getting your own Khanate!

Sweet! Just because it's unattainable doesn't mean this guy can't want it!
