Dirac quietly surmises what could possibly be going to happen. It is obvious that something happened to the Drakkar captain. Unless the tear has the power to let those of evil ways see the light and ;live a good life - and a slit throat of a soldier suggests otherwise - they are in severe danger. Hopefully the baron may wish, with less aggressive messegers, to really have a message sent back to Rugar. Or, if the message is a more violent demonstration, his companions powers are sufficiently suited to turn the situatio around.
Dirac is more concerned with the lack of escape route, and lets his hand remain close to a concealed weapo.

It is not long before the captain is back again. He stands to the side of the door to let another man pass. It is a thin man with bald scalp but a fringe of long grey hair reaching to his shoulders. His is dressed in a black velvet robe, with silver embroidery, and has many rings on his fingers and a heavy gold chain around his neck. He bows deeply to you.
"Greetings good sirs. I am seneschal Matino, the baron's right hand and, I am sorry to say, at the time being the one who has to run things here. I was not aware that master Ruiger wanted to see the baron, and I am sure you understand I must be careful. There have been many people asking questions lately."
He snaps his fingers and a servant scurries in, carrying a tray with wine and fruit, which she hastily puts down on the samor table and then scurries out again. The seneschal pours a goblet of wine for himself and gestures for you to help yourself.
"I can of course offer a proper dinner later on, but I thought we should talk, er, business in private first."
He walks over to the door to make sure the servant is gone, and then close it.
"You can talk freely to me and captain Dirko. We two, and some of the most trusted soldiers, are the only ones except the baron himself who knows the true power we serve. For the greater glory of Naar."
This last sentence is a whisper, and the seneschal raise his goblet in a toast and takes a sip. Captain Dirko bows his head in respect.
"Now then, why is it that you are here?"

Dirac nods at the mention of Naar, even though he has a far superior god and king he worships even now.
Concerns about the door is temporarily forgotten by the Senechal's reasonable words. Could this be a huge bluff, or could it really, really be that somethig strage is happening here.
A thought of the rider leaving comes back to Dirac - could the Drakkar sergeant have succeeded in his mission, and then rushed off?
No, Dirac imperceptibly shakes his head - the castle's men apparently hushed up the initial disappearance and bodies, and dthe rushing rider only occured when enquiries were made by Ruigar.
Dirac feels out of his depth, and curses again the mystery of the privy door as a block to escaping easily. The man decides the worshipper of naar would probabl;y be a mystery, so Dirac looks for any odd signs in the captain - hopefully that man would not expect to be observed as closely in his reactions.

"It appears that your baron has come into possession of something Master Ruiger not only wants, but instructed him to locate. It also appears that the baron has not chosen fit to hand along said object, so we have been instructed to ascertain its whereabouts, investigate the baron's motives for his procrastination and then return with the item in question."

Hawk's Bane wasn't so sure that what Corwyn had asked was suitable. He would have preferred to toy around with their words; put their foot into their mouths, make them sweat and build up their panic and fear. Let them spill their own secrets. Then at the right moment, pounce on them like a cat on a mouse.
Still, he kept quiet and just continued observing the two men.

The seneschal nods.
"Yes, I thought it was about that... There has been trouble, you see. The... artifact that was entrusted to his lordship, it appears that it had unwanted effects. I blame it for her ladyship's illness, and so does the baron."
He pours another drink for himself, the decanter clinking against the goblet, as you can see his hands are shaking. He also pours cups for each of you and sighs heavily.
"Please sit down and have a drink, for this is going to be a long story, I am afraid."

Dirac stands with his back to the wall, no longer looking to the group, though obviously still listening. His whole body language hopefully screams 'hired thug', one not conected to the Darklanders. He would hate to have to break it by talking and ruining the story, and he would hate for his guests to realise he has some small skills to escape any traps that might be ready to spring.

"We're listening," says Corwyn simply, seating himself, but not taking a drink.

Matino stares for a moment at Corwyn, once again glancing at the untouched wine. A drop of sweat trickles down his forhead.
"Very well then... In fact, the story is not all that long in itself - but it will last for the rest of your lives! It was a mistake of you to come here. Captain, now!"
With this last shout, Matino rise from his chair, backing away towards the door. With a silken sound, captain Dirko draws his sword and starts to move towards Hawk's Bane in one swift moment. And with a loud bang, the door to the privy slams open and soldiers pour out, swords drawn.

My intent investigation of the privy door cathces me off-guard as it bursts open and guards come charging out. I step back and draw my weapon, then step forward to meet this new threat.
There will be blood, at last.

Dirac is both surprised yet not surprised by the turn of events, and the only real surprise is that against his better judgement he moves to defend support the kai hunter - he supposes it is instinct from a dozen barroom brawls over the years rather than the combat of the field

I step around Dirac and thrust cleanly into the guard in front of him. My weapon pierces straight thought any armour and the guard falls over dead. I direct some psychic damage to another guard, then move to my next attack position.

Dirac stands in an aggressive stancve, blocking the surprised soldier. Another rushes from the privy, but Dirac dismissively averts his blow grabbing his wrist. Dirac winces with guilt and disgust as that arm goes limp from the rapier thrust of Soul Spawn taking advantage.
Speaking of taking advantage, the initial soldier sees an opening perhaps in this, or perhaps in some other brief effect that knocks Dirac's consciousness. The soldier chops at Dirac heavily, biting through the joint of chainmail. Surprised, Dirac can still roll with the blow, and quickly whips out his sap to try and smash it down on the sadly swift guard's unprotected neck.

Jumping up and stepping back from the table, Corwyn launches a psychic attack on the captain, whilst evoking two bolts of pure Right-Handed magic and firing them at the captain as well.

Not flinching at all from the slash wound he just received from the Captain, Hawk's Bane smiled sadistically and remarked, "Now it's my turn." He leaned forward and coolly slashed his sword in an arc, catching the Captain on his shoulder, tearing open a tendon, causing scarlet red blood to flow down his arm. Smelling blood now, it heightened Hawk's Bane sadistic and bloodthirsty nature into fervor.
