Suddenly, your compass starts vibrating madly in your pocket. An image of the compass forms in your mind without you having to check on it. You know it's telling you to run for the door at the other end of the hall, by Naseir. It's the party's only hope. You feel this for certain.
You even think you hear Sherri's voice briefly in your head, telling you to run.

Meldorac speaks in a strange language, ripping at his throat. You recognize the language as Shadakine. A small medallion comes free, and he kisses it then brandishes it in the mage's face "The true god, with true power, power none of us will ever know!" Meldorac then giggles and cries, but pulls himself together. "He can do what he wants without care, it makes him strong! The rest of us, the rest of us must do what we can, what we have to, to get the only thing that matters to be free - money! A false freedom, but all we will ever get. True freedom requires too much power, is too terrible. They are coming for me!"
Meldorac seems to push at Gregor, trying to stop the mage from dragging him away. "You have no idea what I have had to do! What you need to do! Your magic has got you nowhere, only money will let you be truely free! Money and the brutality to use it! The Merchants guild know that well, that is why they want me to steal the Finger of Kai for them." Meldorac giggles again. "You should steal it, must steal it, be free! Use it instead! You Sommlending scramble like we all do. The things I have had to watch you people, you 'good' people, do! Help you do. Oh dear god, I remember... The things they did to that poor girl! The things I let them do for my pay that day! She had a brother with your name. She called out to him, but they raped her and I let them!"
Meldorac scrambles his dagger free, as if to stab himself in disgust, or Gregor. "Trenton, he was a good man, and I used him. Look at what he had to do, who he had to group with, for the lack of money! A good man, dead for no reason, because he was powerless! Take his dagger, don't forget him! He had a brother he lost, couldn't protect. You have lost your charge! Bonnie torn apart by plague-riddled wretches. Only Owain and Aram will succeed, unless you get the Finger first! Do not trust Owain. Do not! He will be your rival! Steal the Finger yourself and be free, free your country with wealth and domination and fear! It is the only way! I cannot go back, I cannot. I cannot tell my parents the cost is too much for buy my freedom. Let me go!"
Meldorac collapses in hysterical tears again.

Gregor listened to the scholars rantings, his hand still grasped around the others collar. The girl....the girl...could it? No, but how- no! It couldnt be! He took the dagger from Mels hand, Trentons dagger. He held it in his hand, as the wind from the void bustled around them. No! It couldnt be! Not his- his- ...... Gregors hand raised above his head, dagger poised. But he could not, he couldnt, it couldnt be his- The mage's eyes closed tightly to fight back the building tears, then he slowly fell back through the door, releasing his grip on the scholars collar as he plummeted into the darkness.

Wow. Nice post. Don't expect this to be fully resolved. The guilt of letting Meldorac die will return during your less sane moments, as will the pain of losing your sister, ever present in your heart.
EDIT: Oh, and Mel knows he's dead, by the way. He's messing with everyone.

For the time being, Gregor, you have a strange form of amnesia, in which you've forgotten your orders from the guild, and instead replaced them in your mind with the mission Meldorac gave you just before parting his company. You don't remember leaving him or anything that happened last scene (except for the princess and her riddles), and you have only a vague recollection of Sherri (though if you see her again, it will come rushing back to you).
So for now, substitute what Meldorac told you as your goal: recover the finger of kai... whatever that is. Bring it to your guild.

Thank you sir. Was wonderng how you think Im playing Gregor now? I intentionaly didnt lower his stress level back to the Calm, cause after Mels news/death, I thought that kinda added something to his character. If it seems like Im playing him like he's walking around in a daze, then that is intentional. Ive gone a bit "character actor" with him, so you might find the flipancy will die down a bit

I picked up on that, which is why I gave out the EXP. Hell, take another one, because I really do like the attention to detail that you're demonstrating here.
