Decided to use the reroll, got a 16. That's four successes. We need healing items. Gert and I will be the search party.

You are correct. However, you may want to try one more reroll anyway, as three successes isn't a huge amount (I'm using a DC 14 for these rolls, in case I didn't mention that before). Took a gamble on getting that extra reroll.
1d20=16
Quick note on my board too.
So as I see it state of play is -
Arams building barricades Gregors tinkering with the portal machine Owain and Gert are searching for laumspur potions

All current successes will be factored in very favourably to the final roll and result. But I still want to get Aram's say on what everyone should be doing before I go ahead and have everyone make the final roll.

I definitely think we should all be barricading in the final round. Aram certainly is, so you can take those +2 dice to your own barricading rolls (in addition to Gert's +2). My DC for barricading was established as DC 13 earlier, not 14.

Everything that's already succeeded is counted as major successes to the final round, but the rules for the final round will be different, so forget about any bonuses I've mentioned or DC's I've put out there. You will get a strength bonus of some kind, but it might change depending on what the goals are.
Okay, so everyone give me their detailed plans for what they want to do. Don't think in terms of rounds, but rather in terms of your final goal. If you want to make sure the house is impenetrable, tell me exactly how you're going to do this. If you want to find laumspur, tell me which rooms you will search. If you want to get the portal working, tell me what you're thinking of trying.

That all depends on what the others are doing to help me. So far they've done nothing to barricade any of the entrances. The doors are barricaded okay, but they could use more shoring up. However, the windows aren't blocked off at all! We need to first of all make sure all entrances are blocked before reinforcing the doors. Otherwise, the zombies will just get around them. The first priority is blocking the windows on ground levels, then the windows and skylight upstairs. Gertwiller should definitely be assisting in the barricades. Windows should be boarded up with planks, hammers, and nails (hopefully Gert knows where to find them, or Owain got them during his search). If there isn't enough to cover all of the exits, then furniture will need to be moved into place. If all of the openings are secured, then we can further reinforce the doors.
Zipp, there's a question on my board.

Basically I'm looking for everyone to talk for a while OOC and figure out what the best course of action is, then present it to me like a business plan. Some parameters will be set, some dice will be rolled, some results will be given, and the night of the living dead will start in earnest.
I'd like to have the plan by Saturday night. Sunday night will see the siege start, if it hasn't already. If a plan hasn't been decided upon by then, I'll rule you all spent your time bickering amongst yourselves (it does happen).
Oh, and if anyone would rather do this in character than OOC, feel free. Or mix the two.
I eagerly await your clever plans.

I guess the first thing we need to consider is whether we split up, perhaps with Owain and Gert fortifying the rooms they search, or search the house as a group and fortify the rooms we visit. The first option will allow us to fortify more rooms less well, while the latter will mean doing a better job but possibly running out of time before we cover all entrances.
Another point: So far as we've seen, the plague victims no longer have human levels of intelligence, so they might not use ladders. On the other hand their mutations might mean ladders are not required.
Another other point: If Greg gets the portal working, we can simply escape without worrying about defences.

Actually if you look at Gerts main actions, once enough barricading is done he is going back to the portal to get it working. Which leaves any fighting down to Aram and Owain. Gregor is also preoccupied with the portal, any request to move furniture or indeed divert his attention away from the portal will be met with a dismissing wave of the hand. Of course if the horde starts pouring into the portal room or corridor Gregor will fight, but dont count on him being there right at the front zapping stuff. Opening the portal and escaping is the priority for him. Again I would imagine that Gert will be the same once the horde starts coming in. He and Gregor will need to work together to get the portal up and running. Gregor thinks he knows the theory, and is hoping relaying that to Gert will allow him to physically operate it.

Wonder what will happen when the portal device is activated. I'm betting on the shortest update of the whole campaign:
'You rematerialise in solid rock.'

Below I've detailed the actions you ended up having the time to complete. Rolls follow each section.
Hearing the screams getting louder, and thus closer, the companions quickly set about various tasks. Aram took over the task of barricading the doors, specifically the double doors, the back door, and the door to the spiral staircase (which was mostly made up of windows and didn't offer them any strategical position by the knight's judgement).
Okay, Aram, I'm going to have you roll twice here. Roll combat to see how many barricades you can make. DC is 13, each success adds another barricade. Also roll skill. This one is for how powerful your barricades are, essentially how well they are set up. You get Gertwiller's bonus to skill. Based on your and Owain's earlier rolls, I'm saying all entrances have one piece of furniture in front of them. Unless you roll really high, you won't get to barricade all the windows. For each barricade you end up making, detail where it should go. Spending one stress point gives you an automatic barricade. You can spend these as much as you want/are able.
After seeing the doors blocked, Owain went into the basement to check some of the storerooms. His hope was that he would find some healing items. If the barricades fell, they may very well need them.
Roll skill. I'm gonna give you one automatic success. For each other success at DC 12, you can get an item, or you can combine successes to get better items. Spending two stress gives you an instant item. You can do this twice. Gertwiller also gives you his bonus.
Gregor was focused on the portal, which he saw as their most obvious route of escape. However, getting it to work was going to be a difficult task. He wasn't even sure if he had the necessary tools to get it running, let alone focus it to another portal. He remembered hearing about someone transporting through a portal and ending up cut in half on the other end. He had always thought it a myth... he'd like to be able to continue thinking that.
He had a nasty cough, though, that was proving to be highly distracting. His throat burned and the pain kept him from completely focusing. He tried to push past the pain, thinking about the consequences if he couldn't get the portal working.
Yours is probably the most difficult task. I'm going to say, based on your earlier rolls, that you have the wherewithal to approach getting the portal running. Getting the portal running is going to be an ongoing task, requiring a total of twelve group skill successes at DC 18. If you choose to roll mental for a round instead of skill, you can attempt to lower this DC. The DC is lowered by 1 for each mental roll at 17 or higher. Only Gregor can make the mental rolls, but anyone can make skill rolls, and they stack. For this round, you can claim Gertwiller in your skill roll, if you choose to roll skill. If you choose to roll Mental, Gertwiller can make a seperate skill roll (2 dice).
Gertwiller spent the time running around like a fiend, lifting furniture one moment, tearing through boxes for laumspur and other restoratives the next. He even found a moment to introduce himself to Gregor, though the mage was too busy studying the portal to pay him much mind.
Gertwiller was coming back upstairs, bumping briefly into Owain as he rushed to another storeroom, when he froze. Aram, stacking a desk by the double doors, froze as well. The screams had stopped. Neither dared to hope that the pursuit had ended, and their fears were justified.
Seconds later, the doors shook madly as the force of a large mob slammed into them. The siege had begun.
Everyone has to post their positions when the attack begins. Don't post any further actions yet, just positions and character details, like yelling or thoughts in your head. From this point on, Gertwiller's skill bonus only works for those who are within the same room as him. If he's going to be giving skill bonuses to Gregor working on the machine, he'll have to be downstairs, and can't be helping with defense.

Roll here: invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2032366/
Natural 20s count double, right? If so that's five successes including the freebie. Combine them as one set of two and one set of three. I'll also spend 2 stress for an instant item.
Assuming I found something worthwhile with that roll, I will be back with Aram. Gert can go help Greg.
"They're here," says Owain dryly, as he readies his crossbow.

you know for my next character Im just gonna come back as a brain-dead barbarian. Then all I have to worry about is hitting stuff. Thinking hurts to much.
Anyway on with the rolls!
Thinking about it (theres that word again...), and knowing my luck with 'castle, I'll just go straight for the skill roll first off and use Gerts bonus while I can. You might think "why not try and lower the DC first", tbh the difference is too small for it to count. I could roll 4 18s for example for the mental, which would reduce the DC to 14, then on my next roll, could roll well below 14. Then Id kick myself for not just rolling skill in the first place! I mite take a RL stress point at the end of all this....
Skill check for portal (Gert assisting) (1d20=12, 1d20=18, 1d20=18, 1d20=3)
Ok well theres two, so only 10 more group skill checks to go.
How does "mutli-rolling" go per round? By that I mean Im guessing we cant fight, then roll skill or I cant roll Mental AND Skill in the same round?
