So, everyone needs to look at my pitiful flirt roll. And because of that i have promptly destroyed my D20 (well not really i cant find it and i threw it somewhere in my car). Just thought i would share that little story. I really hope those rolls stick to the forum and not real life!

Sadly, in real life I have started to think of skill rolls... A collegue was on the phone with her back to me, and there was a foam aerosol cleaner on a back shelf. I mock-seakily wandered across, and quickly went to swipe it. Except I caught it wrongly with my fingers, and the aerosol fell to the floor. Perfectly it hit on the edge of the can, pointed towards her desk, and by a million to one - or 20 to 1 - chance the loose aerosol nozel top popped off and landed right on the desk infront of her noisily I know there are no critical failures in skill checks, but if there were they would look like that in real life. Hopefully Maerin won't do the same to a fellow vakeros! Accidentally tripping, stepping on her dress, pushing her over and making it rip or something so she turns around, slaps you violently then runs as best she can from the hall crying miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight just be a small measure away from smooth

Just a quick memo for Maerin and myself - Ector has left his pike in his quarters as it seems an unlikely choice of weapon in his present location. He does, however, have his sword, shield and dagger with him.

Wow Maerin, you have known me for a bit to long....when you actually DO answer my questions before asking. I just thought that to be creepy that you are pulling your mind reading powers out. Is is a warning for everyone else.....Maerin CAN read your mind!

Damn. No way am I making an Acrobatics check at -8. No-one gets to see my ED-209 impression, sorry. I'm guessing being on the wall means no running start, so +2 on Athletics (-2 for concussion, -7 armour, -4 speed) won't be enough to jump down either. Does the penalty for wearing heavy armour already include the speed penalty? That would make the mod +6.
What a time to hand control over to the GM! I'll be away for three or four days. It would be nice if Ector is still alive when I get back, so please consider the above purely theoretical.

Game Announcement:
I am unexpectedly getting pulled away from running the game the rest of this week. The work trip I am on right now looks like it is going to consume too much of these next three days. So, the next update will come on Monday and we will be back to normal. Thank you to those of you that have already posted, and my apologies for not making this decision sooner.
Worry not, Ector, your character will be waiting for you upon your return.

Hi M
I am back! But I guess you are gone now, I posted as if I was with the group, as I thought that would be where my char would be.
Hope the business trip goes well, and you get to have some fun while you are there (wherever there would be!)
Allan

I understand, as I'm very busy too. Zohar will continue to stumble around blindly in the fog until Monday.

Well, I'm back. Looks like I timed my break pretty well, as Maerin's absence means I've missed nothing.

Good to have you back, Maerin. Is Ector still too stunned to descend the stairs safely? Can Alba assist here? For now I'll post as if he's okay, but change it if you say it's still dangerous.

Probably not very wise, though Alba could do a skill check assist for you if the two of you can coordinate. The bonus, however, may be a drop in a very empty bucket. There are a number of factors present here at this point (though fewer than just after the explosion last week, in case you do not see something here now that you thought applied last week). 1. Visibility. You still cannot see more than a couple yards in front of you because of all the pulverized rock dust/powder still in the air (that includes down from your eye level to a descending set of stairs). This problem is even more dramatic in the courtyard itself, as your companions (particularly Zohar, will attest). Somewhat ironically, your pike would be useful right about now. 2. Treacherous footing. The stairs are actually slickened by some of the rock dust that has started to "fall out" of the air at this point (Alba will have noticed this on his way up; I hinted at it when I mentioned how much dust covers Alba when Ector finally sees him). They do not put handrails on these stairs either. You could theoretically hug the wall and therefore stay well away from the edge, but you would have to be careful about the footing nonetheless. 3. Armour mobility limitations. I am afraid that is a major problem for you at the moment. Downsides of wearing heavy armor and all that. Incidently, I need to get some idea of what you mean by "set off for the palace", as the only real routes to speak of would be either descend into and walk across the courtyard to the Citadel (with the aforementioned conditions applying) or walking blindly either north or south on the top of the wall in hopes of finding an easier descent elsewhere (in which case I need to know north or south, with the consideration that the explosion seemed to occur towards the south side of the Citadel). Right now, I do not have enough from your post to assume what you are doing and all are potentially dangerous.

OK, I'll change my post to make it clearer in meaning, and less suicidal in practice. Looks like I'm still stuck so will try to find another way down. Gah, if only I'd decided to stay on the ground! I'd have saved the queen, defeated the bad guy and got the girl by now. But no, I'm stranded at the top of a flight of steps. Not very heroic. How high is the wall, anyway? I haven't totally ruled out jumping yet. Surely there's a conveniently-placed haywain.
Edit: Had an idea of sorts. Basically, Alba can use his staff as a blind man uses a cane - to probe the ground ahead and ensure it is safe. Ector will keep a hand on Alba's shoulder, so he can follow his path exactly. And since the closest stairs are too treacherous for Ector to descend, we will search along the length of the wall. All this is subject to Alba co-operating of course. I said "go north" as the explosion was in the south, so the dust shouldn't be so thick in the north.
