Right then, as the title suggests, this is the OOC thread, in which we will conduct rules-related stuff and combat. I encourage you to try to keep everything rules- and mechanics related here, as I want the IC thread to read like a story When it comes to combat, we will as per Soul Spawn's suggestion use a template where you will state your intended actions in a round and link to the necessary dicerolls on www.invisiblecastle.com. I used the one he suggested, with the addition of Saving throws; if you run into an opponent who use some ability which allows a save, it is prudent to have that Save rolled in advance, but so as not to clutter the template with a bunch of links, I will tell you in advance when to roll. __________________________ Init roll: Free/Immediate Action: Full-round action: Standard Action: Psychic/Magic Action: Move Action: 5ft step: Saves: _________________________________ I hope that is clear and that it works out. As the game begins, you will all be in Vanamor. The three Darklanders among you will have just arrived, helped into the city by Dirac Sil who is hired to do that sort of thing. Dirac will also be the one who have contacted Taden, stating that a man of his skill and learning will be necessary. That should be all for now. I left you an opportunity for presentation, since it is a tradition when a group of adventurers meet (I resisted the temptation to let you meet in a tavern on a dark and stormy night, but only just - I am a die-hard traditionalist when it comes to fantasy ) and since it gives you an opportunity to get in character before I give you the more detailed briefing.

I'll move the reference here - for those who care, Dirac has a charisma of 9, so he will probably have seemed da little weak perhaps and unengaging, being on the lesser side of average. He would have talked little (minimal words and sentences), been standoffish, but hopefully radiated some form of professionalism. Maybe @slavey: What info is helpful for you to have in our sig files?

@slavey: What info is helpful for you to have in our sig files? Oh, well didn't much think about that, to tell you the truth. I have your character sheets in a separate window anyway In case you want to make skill checks, you can post your rolls in this thread, or PM them to me if you want them to be secret from the others.

Do you want us to roll them, or are you happy to do the int/cha based ones yourself?

Do you want us to roll them, or are you happy to do the int/cha based ones yourself? Your preference. I will roll some things which you should not know the results of anyway, so feel free to roll the checks you are allowed to

Needless to say, Taden's response to Soul Spawn comes before Slavemaster continuing the story. Apologies for the timing.

Thanks for the compliments I posted the "mission briefing". You are allowed skill checks for Knowledge: History (DC 20), Knowledge: Religion (DC 15) and Knowledge: Arcana (DC 25) to see if you already know something about the Red Tear of Ishir. Taden gets a +2 circumstance bonus to the History and Religion checks, since it has to do with his homeland. Dirac also gets a Superstition Check (DC 25).

So I am still trying to figure out how this particular dice roller displays, but I think I just rolled the following. I am guessing based on the bracket/parantheses orientation that Corwyn's roll appears to show, but am I correct in interpretting the output as [dice roll, entered bonus]? If so: Knowledge (history): 29, Knowledge (religion): 28, Knowledge (arcana): 28 invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1629567/ If not, let me know and I will use the option to re-roll something.

I think that's true, I rolled flat rolls since I was rushing to get my mum organised to leave! Aside from a distracting call due at some point, I'm back! As an aside, since the character sheets are not published, here is my character description: He has a thin, hooded face and deceptively wiry frame with the muscle structure that speaks of outdoors work. He is slow to speak his mind, but delivers it in a small jab like his weapon. His eyes are dark, dark brown and seem to move slowly, like the point of his sword, until they dart to something amiss. His body never seems to moves unless it must, yet is always in the correct place - an economy of motion. Added: Black hair (as picture above), and currently attired in fairly normal traveller's clothes with a falchion at his side, and a chainmail waistcoat still donned from his ride in meeting you lot. 5'11", @125lb, mid twenties in appearance, scars and general grim probably cannot hide his shadakine features

Just so people are generally aware, I tend to follow the one-post-per-day policy as a player, as play-by-post games do not often permit much in the way of "true" banter (at least not without coming at the expense of players that might not be able to be on as often or at the same time as I).

I guess we should stick to staying in the same 6 seconds-ish of game time (or turn) until slavey has posted. Even though I like typing, it makes me happy

I guess I don't see it so much as staying "in the same turn" (although there is an element of that, particularly in cases where dice are rolled) as it is avoiding the natural "advantage" (which seems to serve no merit aside from ticking people off in these games) that my time zone way over on the west coast of the U.S. has over people who see Tuesday before I do.
