The torch shows things a bit clearer. The hallway is made of deeply grooved stone, and it winds around a corner heading to your left. There seems to be no other way out of the chamber. Thankfully, you hear no sounds of enemies, either. The silence is eerily heavy, in fact.

Aram creeps down the hallway as stealthily as he can. Though he misses his platemail dearly, at least he does not clank around so much without it. This brings to mind the clanking sound he had heard earlier, and he wonders if perhaps someone else has his armor, considering that he ended up with Gertwiller's ill-fitting clothes. When he nears the corner, he leans against the wall next to it and carefully peeks around the bend.

Around the bend is a hallway lined with rows of cells, each made up of a large iron door with large barred windows. There are a few more torches here, so your light isn't absolutely neccesary, though if anyone has seen you coming, they haven't announced it.

Aram holds onto his torch, as he may end up needing it once he is through the cell block. He proceeds silently down the hall, looking in each window as he goes by to see if there's anything - or anyone - in any of the cells.

The first three cells you look into are empty. The fourth contains a woman, who crouches on the ground with her head down.

"Miss?" says Aram, gently. "What is your name, and how did you come to be locked up here?"

The woman doesn't respond to your question, not even to look up and acknowledge your presence.

"Do you know where the keys are kept?" asks Aram. "I suppose I could always smash it open, but that's liable to make noise." He looks around to see if there's a ring of keys or anything of the sort in the cell block.

"Smash all you like, no-one will hear. Course, won't do you no good. There's no getting through these doors."
The voice comes from behind you. Whipping around you don't see anyone. Then you realize the voice is coming from within the cell behind you. Going to the window you see an unkempt man in a black tunic and pants, both of which have been badly torn. He's picking his nails with a dagger.
"They didn't even see fit to disarm me," he says. "What's the point? You can stab them all they want, but they just won't die."
The man meets your eyes and gives you a nod.
"Robert Mason. I wish I could say I'm pleased to meet you, but not much pleases me at the moment, seeing as I've been locked up here to wait until I'm like the other one."
He indicates the cell with the girl.
"Spent the first couple of hours screaming for her parents. She hasn't spoken in about twelve hours, I'd say, if I've been calculating time right. Hard to keep track down here. But it gives me something to do, at least."

Aram instantly recognizes the man's name. His father Lemuel is the murderous owner of the house where he met his companions, the man responsible for that horrible room that was too tainted with darkness even for Aram's sensibilities.
Aram walks up to the cell containing Robert Mason. For a second he instinctively stretches his right hand forward before he remembers that it is now a block of stone, then sets down his torch and slides his left hand between the bars to shake hands with him. "Well met, Mister Mason," he says. "I am Sir Aram, Knight of the Realm. Unfortunately, I am currently a knight without armor thanks to a portal mishap - the same one responsible for the sorry state of my right hand. How did you come to be imprisoned here? Who are your captors, and what is happening in this place? I've only just arrived."

"A Knight of the Realm? Here?" Robert gets up and comes to the bars to examine more closely your features. "Indeed, you don't seem to be of Oasis stock. What are you doing here? This place is cursed."

So, does he shake my hand?
Also, now that Gertwiller is well and truly dead, do I get Exp?"My companions and I are trying to root out the cause of the plague and the other strange happenings in Oasis on behalf of King Ulnar, and if possible to set things right," says Sir Aram. "A few have been lost previously, and I was separated from the others when we went through the portal. What do you know of this curse?"

"Not much, unfortunately. I came here tracking my father. He... owes me somewhat." The man's voice turns dark and thick and you have the strange feeling he's about to cry or burst into a fit of keening. He shakes his head and the moment passes. "I snuck in through Old Man's Cave. Father was always high on the Council here, I didn't want them knowing I was coming. Seems it wouldn't have mattered. I'm not sure exactly what's happened here. Everyone's gone crazy. Well, not everyone. The Five seem to still be functioning as usual."

"Forgive me, but I am not terribly familiar with Oasis," says Aram. "What is the Old Man's Cave, and can it be used to leave the city as well? I do not know who the Five are. I gather they are the rulers of Oasis, but I do not think I know their names. I have heard of your father, Lemuel Mason, and what I have heard is very disturbing. My companions and I spent the night before our arrival at your family home in the hills outside Oasis. One of your servants, Sherri, came with us, but she mysteriously vanished while in the company of a Brotherhood mage who was with us. He claimed to have lost his memory of everything that happened since we entered Oasis, but I do not believe him. Another of our company also disappeared while alone with him, and most recently the cowardly wizard fled through the portal while the rest of us were fighting for our lives. I did not meet Thanh, but I have every reason to believe he is still alive somewhere. As for the rest of your family...I am sorry. If it is justice you seek, perhaps I can be of service."
